The Cambrian Explosion, for example, is a geological occurrence in which thousands of creatures all appear on the fossil record at once. How could so many different types of animals come from no where all at one short period of time? This evolutionary "big bang" gives no evidence for a common ancestor because all the animals that appeared had major differences and could not be accounted for through the evolutionary process.
Also, it doesn't answer the big question of how life came to be, the question of origins. Naturalism says the life and all diversity is the result of chance, mutations, and natural selection (survival of the fittest). With survival of the fittest the only the strong survive, this means there must be life to begin with for it to act on. The fossil record is proof that there are not "transition steps; they explain this by macro-evolution. Macro-evolution tries to explain evolution through large scale changes, one day a fish gave birth to a reptile.... right. The ignore the missing links in the fossil record by jumping right to he next evolutionary step, or leap.
In fact, the tree of life itself offers evidence against naturalist evolution. Naturalistic evolutions says that all the complex and diverse life we have today derived from one common simple ancestor. As we dig further into the fossil record we see that in fact, the diversity on earth is actually decreasing compared to what is seen; the tree of life is affectively turned on its head.
Like wise evolution its self has no real scientific base to stand on. While natural selection could possibly account for variations within member of a spices, it has shown no creating capabilities.
